Prandi SEGURIN 400g TRADITIONAL Hickory Axe 3.059.04.TH
The Prandi 3.059.04.TH model (also known as the 3.059.T Segurin Hatchet Rough) is an exceptionally compact, lightweight, and durable outdoor hatchet (camper/bushcraft chopper type). It is designed specifically for easy carrying in a backpack or on a belt, making it an ideal choice for camping, hunting, and wilderness survival. The coding breaks down as follows: 3.059 (Segurin model), 04 (400-gram head weight), and TH (Traditional series with Hickory handle and rough finish).
Key technical features:
Head weight: 400 grams (0.88 lbs) – exceptionally lightweight, yet with excellent balance for its size.
Overall length: 28 cm (11 inches) – the perfect length for one-handed use and easy packing in a hiking backpack.
Head material: High-quality C45 (1045) carbon steel. The blade is zone-hardened, meeting the strict German DIN 5131 standards.
Head finish (Rough Finish): The surface is intentionally left with a "rough," authentic forged look, which gives it traditional character and increases resistance to external elements.
Handle: Made from American hickory wood, renowned for its incredible toughness and ability to absorb impact vibrations. Factory-treated with linseed oil.
Additional details: At the end of the handle there is a drilled hole through which a natural leather lanyard passes for a more secure grip around the wrist.
What is it best suited for?
Due to its short handle and low weight, it is not intended for felling large trees. Its strength lies in preparing kindling and splitting small firewood for a campfire. Pruning thinner branches and clearing brush. Precise bushcraft tasks, carving, and fine shaping of wooden stakes or tools.
Origin: Italy
