This cornerstone among multifunctional knives, used extensively in Afghanistan as standard equipment for the Italian mission “Nibbio”, originated from an experimental project by the COMALP Alpine Troops Command to modernize military equipment. As part of the mission preparation, COMALP coordinated a team of companies to create a complete experimental set of newly designed equipment for the individual soldier. Extrema Ratio was selected by COMALP to develop a new multifunctional knife suitable for infantry use – a knife to be used in any operation, anywhere, capable of successfully performing tasks where more specialized tools fail. It was so successful that the development of the Fulcrum Bayonet followed, a version of the same knife that can be mounted on the soldier’s standard rifle. An exceptionally robust and multifunctional knife, the Fulcrum’s blade can withstand loads of over 150 kilograms without breaking. The tanto-shaped blade allows for heavy use and wear while maintaining a sharp, penetrating edge on its extremely strong tip. Thanks to its weight and top-side balance, the Fulcrum is also suitable for heavy outdoor work.
