                                                         HOW TO USE

The Kelly Kettle is easy to use and will boil water in 3-5 minutes, in any weather, using any fuel... making it an essential piece of camping equipment for anyone outdoors.
Kelly Kettle is essentially a double-walled chimney with water contained in the chimney walls.
Once filled with water, simply start a small fire in the base, place the kettle on it, and drop additional fuel down the chimney (natural fuels like twigs, leaves, straw, paper, cones, dry animal dung, etc.).
The large internal surface of the chimney heats the water extremely quickly, so very little fuel is required.
The fire is safely contained in the base and chimney of the kettle itself, so,
a) strong winds and rain do not interfere with the fire
b) the kettle is safe for use in many areas where open fires are not suitable.
Within a few minutes, the water will boil.
It really is that simple!

Follow these steps when using your kettle:

Fill the kettle with water up to approximately 15 mm below the water spout.
Gently place the green Kelly Kettle whistle into the spout. Ensure the arrow is pointing down to the ground, as this will direct any escaping steam safely downward.
Do not press the whistle into the spout, as you want to remove the whistle easily when the water boils.
Place the base on flat ground. Fill it with combustible materials such as twigs, bark, dry grass, newspapers, etc. Then gently place the kettle on it.
Light the fire through the side hole of the base and face it to the wind for extra draw. Insert additional fuel through the chimney (sticks, twigs, etc.).
When the water boils, use both hands to grip the wire handle and hold it at a 90-degree angle to the main body of the kettle.
Then lift it off the base and allow the water a moment to settle.
NOTE: The kettle handle will be safe to touch. Please see the picture above.
Remove the whistle by holding the kettle handle with one hand, then placing the index finger of your other hand in the split ring and your thumb on the opposite side of the whistle. Lift the whistle gently.
Use the handle and chain to pour.
If more water is needed, just let the kettle cool for about a minute before refilling it with cold water.
Place it back on the base and fire, reload the chimney, and it will boil again in minutes!
Important: When using your kettle for the first time, boil a little water and discard it to clean the water chamber.

                                                 SAFETY INFORMATION
Avoid filling the water chamber to the very top, as the water will expand when heated and may overflow.
Never place the kettle on the fire unless the water chamber is FULL. Do not leave the kettle dry over the fire.
Note: The kettle should always be full of water when cooking over the chimney - otherwise, you risk overheating the inner chimney and damaging the kettle.
Using the kettle with little or no water can lead to overheating of the chimney's top, potentially causing it to crack, voiding your warranty.
Never hold the handle over the chimney when the kettle is burning on the base, as this could result in a burn to the user.
Always keep children away from the kettle when in use.
Never touch the outside of the kettle or the base when in use, as they will be HOT.
Use excess water to extinguish the fire. After use, allow all items to cool completely before packing them away.
Note: Do not store water in the kettle. The kettle is not meant to replace a water bottle and should be carried upright when full of water.
Empty the kettle of all water after use and store it in a dry place. When in storage, the whistle should be left off the spout to allow air circulation through the water chamber.
Due to its ease of use, speed, reliability, and availability of FREE fuel everywhere.... the Kelly Kettle is an essential piece of camping equipment for scouts, fishing, and hunting, kayaking, emergency preparedness, or just fun family picnics.

Make Kelly Kettle a part of your family camping tradition today!
