Limited Lifetime Warranty
Fixed blade TOPS knives are warranted to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship for the life of the knife. * Continue reading for terms of this warranty.
Folding TOPS knives are warranted to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship for a period of five years from the date of original purchase.
TOPS knife sheaths are warranted to be free from defects in materials and craftsmanship for a period of one year from the date of original purchase.
A copy of the original certificate of authenticity may be requested for warranty repair/replacement of all fixed and folding knives. This ensures that you have a genuine TOPS knife.
This warranty becomes void if the knife is misused.
TOPS warranty does not cover:
- Loss or theft.
- Broken knife point, blade chipping, or a jagged edge.
- Damage caused by throwing, curiosity, misuse, modifications to the knife, improper handling, accident, improper sharpening, or normal wear and tear.
- Scratched/cut/worn coatings from use or contact with the sheath.
- Oxidation of the steel (rust)
- Natural imperfections in leather sheaths or variations in the shaping/coloring of our "Black River Wash" or "tumble finished knives".
- In some cases, using a hard object for batoning will be classified as misuse. We provide no warranty on using a 3mm or thinner knife for chopping and batting.
Knives are high-quality tools and as such, are able to withstand extreme use and conditions. However, it's the owner's responsibility to ensure the knife is protected in its sheath and that usage is limited to reasonable and applicable functions. Care must be taken to protect the steel from contaminants or corrosive substances.
Misuse of this knife outside of performing normal functions as a "knife" will result in voiding this warranty. TOPS reserves the right to make the final decision on what is considered "fair use" or "misuse". Please contact us if you have any questions.
To obtain warranty service, TOPS will require a copy of the original certificate of authenticity.

TOPS will review your claim and provide an initial response within 3 business days of receiving the knife. Photos emailed will expedite the claim process.
If approved, warranty coverage includes repair or, where applicable, a replacement product. Warranty will also cover return shipping fees for U.S. customers within the first 60 days from the date of purchase (proof of purchase date required).
All international customers or claims are subject to shipping fees to and from TOPS.
Many TOPS knives are crafted from the well-known steel known as 1095 high carbon alloy. It has been proven as a choice for tough and uncompromising knives for over half a century. For added strength, we differentially heat treat all high carbon alloy knives. The blade is hardened to 56-58 Rockwell, but the spine remains softer to prevent breakage. If used improperly, these knives can bend.
It's worth noting that 1095 can discolor and oxidize if not maintained properly and regularly. As with any good tool, which requires care, all exposed parts (minus the powder coat)—around the laser engraving, cutting edge, and serration—should be oiled.
It is clear that knife users are responsible for maintaining a clean and oiled knife by using a quality rust inhibitor/oil.
TOPS Knives Coating:
TOPS uses only the finest hybrid epoxy/poly powder coating on its blades. This coating is baked and the integrity of the coating will extend the life of the knife. Aggressive friction/rubbing against a very hard surface like metal can cause some scratches or wear on the surface, as can some chemical agents. However, when the knife is kept clean and used for its intended functions, you will ensure prolonged use.
Our coating has been independently tested and passed:
1300 hours of saltwater spray (Result: BEST)
Solvent and adhesion tests (Result: BEST)
Impact resistance test (Result: BEST)
TOPS knives are not intended for throwing; doing so will void the warranty.
