Casstrom Lars Fält Knife Fire Striker
Casstrom Lars Fält knife set with Fire Striker, Karelian curly birch, carbon steel.
A very sturdy bushcraft knife from Casström, developed together with survival expert Lars Fält. The knife is versatile and ideal for general outdoor activities as well as longer expeditions.
The blade is made from thick Uddeholm Sleipner high-carbon tool steel to make the knife durable under heavy use (for example when splitting wood), while also containing a small amount of chromium to provide some resistance to corrosion. The properties of the steel, together with the Scandinavian grind, make the blade strong while still comfortable to work with and easy to sharpen in the field. The construction is full tang, meaning the blade runs through the full width and length of the handle, making the knife very durable, and even if the handle is damaged in some way, it can still be used without problems. The handle has an ergonomic design and fits both large and small hands. It is made from selected Karelian birch and treated with a traditional Scandinavian linseed oil blend. The knife comes with a sturdy deep leather sheath and a leather lanyard for the handle.
„With Lars Fält’s experience of what is really needed in the wilderness and Casstrom’s knowledge of knife making, we knew that the Casstrom Lars Fält knife was exactly on target. If you want a tough knife for your next outdoor adventure, look no further. It is not afraid of hard work and will still look great at the end of the day! By the way, are you wondering why this is the only one of our knives without a fire steel option on the sheath? That is because Lars believes the fire steel should be in your pocket. At Casström, we take pride in our attention to detail. Our knives are close to custom quality, but at a production price.“

About Sleipner steel: Uddeholm Sleipner is a high-carbon carbon tool steel. Its chemical composition allows it to be hardened to high hardness while retaining ductility (the ability to deform without breaking) and toughness, while still being easy to sharpen and capable of taking a very sharp and durable edge. Due to a certain chromium content, it offers some corrosion resistance compared with ordinary carbon steel. Nevertheless, the blade should be dried after use and protected with oil or wax when stored in a high-humidity environment. Composition: C 0.9% Si 0.9% Mn 0.5% Cr 7.8% Mo 2.5% V 0.5%
