Arguably the most distinctive production knife Spyderco has ever created, this incredible expression of the Native 5 model is further elevated by the beautiful wooden box in which it is presented. The box is custom made from solid African padauk–an exotic reddish-orange hardwood that naturally darkens over time to a deep brown color. Proudly laser engraved with Spyderco’s 50th anniversary logo, this stunning box is the perfect display case for this extraordinary and highly collectible tribute to the company’s history and craftsmanship in the art of knifemaking. For every box created, one tree will also be planted to help restore our planet’s resources. To mark their 50th anniversary, Spyderco created an extraordinary version of their iconic Native 5 folding knife that combines premium materials with impeccable craftsmanship. Its vividly polished full-flat-ground blade is crafted from CPM-S90V–a vanadium-enriched stainless steel that offers excellent edge retention and corrosion resistance. The blade is supported by a precisely crafted back lock mechanism housed in a handle that represents a phenomenal blend of manufacturing precision and old-world artistic craftsmanship. The all-stainless steel liners are meticulously worked along their edges to create a decorative filework pattern reminiscent of the finest custom knives. The handle scales are crafted from amber bone, beautifully polished and dovetailed to fit seamlessly with the Damascus bolsters, which are undoubtedly the knife’s most distinctive elements. The bolsters are made from bars painstakingly forged by expert bladesmiths Ed Schempp and his son Martin. Through a careful and complex one-year process involving more than 1200 hours of work, Ed and Martin transformed solid billets of 1084 and 15N20 tool steel into mosaic Damascus bars. The cross-section of each bar reveals a breathtaking, detailed checkered pattern of 36 squares, each containing Spyderco’s signature “bug” logo. This remarkable material was then precision machined and dovetailed for a perfect fit on the knife’s handle, and acid etched to maximize the contrast of its intricate pattern. To proudly fulfill the knife’s identity as a Spyderco CLIPIT design, the handle is accented by a polished hourglass pocket clip configured for right-side, tip-up carry. This stunning anniversary knife is further highlighted by a beautiful custom wooden display box made from solid hardwood – African padauk. Proudly laser engraved with Spyderco’s 50th anniversary logo, it is the perfect complement to one of the most extraordinary and highly collectible knives ever created.
