TOPS NATA
Many useful tools have come from Japan over the years. The NATA (hatchet/cleaver) is one that has not often been in the spotlight compared to weapons like the Katana or everyday tools such as the Kiridashi, for example. The NATA was used mainly as a gardening tool for pruning or removing tree growth, and it handles the kinds of tasks you would expect from a blade before electric or modern tools existed. Despite its simple appearance, its functionality is perfect. TOPS' version of the NATA combines traditional Japanese design with American style. The wide rectangular blade retains mass behind the entire edge length, allowing it to chop better than most knives of its size. Chopping power is also improved by the angled handle. TOPS' version features a standard flat grind on both sides of the blade rather than the chisel grind or single-bevel edge typical of most Japanese tools. Like all TOPS fixed blades, the NATA has a Full-Tang construction. The thick, well-shaped handles provide a comfortable grip, while the simple front-draw sheath makes it easy to carry and use around the house, on the farm, while camping, or wherever you may be.
