Expert special mission officer Alan Garcia has been a police officer in Middletown, Rhode Island since 1988. Prior to that, he served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He has been assigned to both departments of regional SWAT teams since 1991 and is a member of NTOA (National Tactical Officers Assoc.) and IALEFI.
Parts of his testing and review include:
The cutting edge features three deep serrated cutting surfaces at its base which, combined with a razor-sharp, double-ground tanto blade, give it excellent cutting capability.
The handle is configured to allow a very secure grip. I found that the grip I could achieve when holding the knife with a standard hammer grip was absolutely incredible. Once you get this knife in your hand, for the most part it stays there.
The Kydex belt sheath is free of any retention devices, but it is molded to the knife and provides excellent retention and quick-draw capability. It is agile and easy to manipulate. I drove the knife through the tops of 55-gallon drums with nothing more than cosmetic damage. I liked this knife and found no obvious flaws in its design.
This is an excellent knife for a police officer or soldier looking for a super-strong, reliable knife that is not overly large or cumbersome.
