Trek’n Eat foods are prepared using freeze-drying.

Freeze-drying is a technical drying process that takes advantage of the unique physical properties of water. Frozen water is transformed directly from a solid state into gas (sublimation) in a vacuum chamber - the meals are made by rapidly freezing the food and then drying it in a vacuum chamber. With this method, the water in the food does not melt, but evaporates directly. All that is needed to prepare them again is hot water. The low weight, easy preparation, and savings in time and energy make this food a good choice for travelers, mountaineers, sailors, as well as for trekking and expeditions. Last but not least is the long shelf life (3 years).
