Mcusta MC-193C Higonokami Friction Folder VG-10 Drop Point Black/Green Laminated Hardwood Handles
Mcusta MC-193C Higonokami Friction Folder VG-10 Drop Point Black/Green Laminated Hardwood Handles
PSMC193C
Mcusta's friction folder is inspired by the traditional Japanese Higonokami - a type of friction knife featuring a Chikiri (thumb lever) that can be used both to open the blade and to help prevent accidental closing during use. The flat-ground blade is San Mai with a VG-10 core, and the wavy laminated line intentionally imitates the famous Hamon of traditional katana swords. The silky-smooth opening action of the slipjoint mechanism is complemented by a ball detent that keeps the blade in both the closed and open positions (non-locking). Mcusta's passionate craftsmanship and innovative designs have resulted in this stylish and practical tool, updating the traditional Japanese Higonokami knife for the 21st century.
Mcusta does not use the conventional method of stamping its blades like most mass-produced knives. The components are laser-cut and CNC machined to ensure the best possible precision fit. This is an important step in producing a superior blade. Each knife is then hand-assembled, hand-finished, and hand-inspected by Mcusta's craftsmen. This process creates a superior knife at a reasonable price.
Made in Seki, Japan, Mcusta combines modern technology with traditional Japanese craftsmanship to produce high-quality, custom handmade knives. This knife features a 3.25-inch San Mai stainless steel blade with a VG-10 core and a black/green laminated hardwood handle. It comes with an elegant Nishijin Japanese pouch. The Higo Japanese style is a knife that opens one-handed with the thumb, using the front extension of the blade.
