The Para 3 takes all the proven features and benefits of Spyderco’s best-selling Paramilitary 2 and distills them into an even more compact, all-purpose cutting tool. Its 3-inch blade is precision crafted from premium CPM-15V tool steel and features a full-flat grind for an exceptional balance of strength, tip utility, and low-friction cutting performance. It includes a textured index-finger choil and thumb ramp that provide solid support for a forward grip and offer enhanced control during precise cutting tasks. Spyderco’s trademark round hole clearly identifies it as a member of the Spyderco family and is fully accessible to allow fast, efficient one-handed opening for both right- and left-handed users.

The defining feature of the Para 3 Lightweight is its handle construction, which includes lightweight fiberglass-reinforced nylon (FRN) scales, injection molded from tough nylon. In addition to being more economical than scales made from solid G10, FRN also allows the precise molding of Spyderco’s non-slip Bi-Directional Texture pattern on the exterior handle surfaces and intricate structural details on the inside.

Instead of the large liners used in the G10 Para 3, the Lightweight’s streamlined design includes a minimalist bushing on one side of the blade pivot and a separate stainless steel lock bar. Both are securely nested in molded cavities in the scales, which also include molded threaded inserts that anchor the screws.

This limited-edition Sprint Run version of the Para 3 showcases a blade made from Crucible Industries’ state-of-the-art CPM-15V powdered tool steel. With nearly 15 percent vanadium in its alloy mix, this remarkable material offers the highest wear resistance of any currently available tool steel. To maximize its potential, this knife’s full-flat-ground, stonewashed blade is further enhanced by a specialized heat-treat protocol developed by world-renowned custom knifemaker Shawn Houston. In keeping with the distinctive CPM-15V Sprint Run theme, this Para 3’s handle features distinctive brown FRN scales, and the reverse side of the blade is proudly laser engraved with Shawn Houston’s “Big Brown Bear” logo. All other elements of this elite knife remain faithful to the proven Para 3 platform.
