This knife is made to comply with all legal requirements in the United Kingdom. This means it cannot be too large and it is not allowed to have a locking mechanism. Spyderco managed to create an excellent knife within these limitations. The absence of a locking mechanism is largely compensated for by the distinct click with which the knife opens. You will feel this click again when closing the knife. The index finger rests in the curve between the blade and the handle. If you accidentally close the blade, it will be stopped by your finger, reducing the chance of accidents.
