Cold Steel Dragonfly Katana Sword 88DK
Cold Steel Dragonfly Katana Sword 88DK
BRKCS88DK
The classic Japanese fighting sword in all its forms has been celebrated for centuries, not only for its elegant lines and simple beauty, but also for the craftsmanship and skill invested in its construction.
Most swords offered today are interpretive copies of antiques from feudal Japan. They were made for warriors of short stature, who were rarely taller than five and a half feet. However skillfully these swords are designed, they may not be ideally suited to a twenty-first-century warrior who has benefited from modern advances in childhood nutrition and healthcare and has grown into a significantly taller, stronger, and more athletic version of his historical counterpart.
As a way to compensate for this size mismatch, Cold Steel created the Dragonfly series. These swords feature thicker, wider, and heavier blades, comparable to the Emperor series in terms of heat treatment, polishing, fit and finish, and attention to detail, but with several differences.
Most noticeable are the distinctive green silk wrap and black same (ray skin) used on the handles, along with black iron fittings that carry the dragonfly motif. The polished blades are also more deeply curved than the Emperor blades and end in a long "iris leaf" point for maximum cutting and slashing potential. In addition, these swords come with two protective bags. There is a BLUE TRAVEL BAG and an elaborate decorative display bag made from the finest heavy silk metallic brocade.
